By understanding posture and activity, reducing current inflammation with Scenar, and balancing the body structure with Bowen, Bursitis can and usually does resolve.

Bursitis

Description

Bursitis is the painful swelling of the fluid filled cushion that separates bones from muscles, tendons, and skin. There are more than 150 bursae in the human body. The most commonly affected areas are shoulder, elbow, knee, and feet joints.

Causes

Overuse and excess pressure on joint structures can cause inflammation of the bursa. The most frequent causes of bursa involve: repetitive motions, abnormal amounts of pressure on joints, sudden injury or infection.

Primary Symptoms

Bursitis pain is frequently dull and achy and painful to the touch. It can limit the range of motion in the joint structure. There is often visible swelling and redness if the affected bursa is close to the surface of the skin.

Treatment Philosophy

The over-arching question is always..."why?" Why has bursitis developed? What activities and reasons are causing inflammation of the bursae?

A thorough history will be completed to discover what activities and movements have contributed to the condition. Strategies to stop the aggravating factors will be discussed. Inflammation in the joint will be treated using Scenar. Structural misalignment will be corrected. Structural issues must be addressed as they cause new wear patterns that lead to continued inflammation and deterioration of the joint.

Expected Outcomes

By understanding posture and activity, reducing current inflammation with Scenar, and balancing the body structure with Bowen, Bursitis can and usually does resolve.
